“I am the autumnal sun, With autumn gales my race is run.”
Reference to two poems, (weapon name)”The Autumn Wind” by Steve Sabol a sports themed poem and (flavor text)”I Am the Autumnal Sun” by Henry David Thoreau
Both poems are about seasonal change
- “The Autumn Wind” is a sports-themed poem written by former NFL Films President and co-founder Steve Sabol
It describes the atmosphere of autumn weather, amd how relates to pro football season
- Father of Transcendentalism Thoreau’s poem describes the feeling of loss through the perspective of the Sun and how sad it must feel when seasons change.
THE AUTUMN WIND – Steve Sabol
- The Autumn wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea
With a rollicking song he sweeps along
His face is weatherbeaten
He wears a hooded sash
With a silver hat about his head
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country
A villain big and bold
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn wind is a Raider Pillaging just for fun
He’ll knock you ’round and upside down
And laugh when he’s conquered and won.
“I Am the Autumnal Sun” – Henry David Thoreau
- Sometimes a mortal feels in himself Nature
— not his Father but his Mother stirs
within him, and he becomes immortal with her
immortality. From time to time she claims
kindredship with us, and some globule
from her veins steals up into our own.I am the autumnal sun,
With autumn gales my race is run;
When will the hazel put forth its flowers,
Or the grape ripen under my bowers?
When will the harvest or the hunter’s moon
Turn my midnight into mid-noon?
I am all sere and yellow,
And to my core mellow.
The mast is dropping within my woods,
The winter is lurking within my moods,
And the rustling of the withered leaf
Is the constant music of my grief…
