Sudden Death

  • Death that occurs unexpectedly and from 1 to 24 hours after the onset of symptoms, with or without known preexisting conditions
  • Death that rapidly occurs without warning


  • Means of deciding the winner in a tied match, especially one in which the first side or player to concede a game, score, or point during an additional period of play is the loser
  • In a sport or game, sudden death is a form of competition where play ends as soon as one competitor is ahead of the others, with that competitor becoming the winner
  • Typically used as a tiebreaker when a contest is tied at the end of the normal playing time or the completion of the normal playing task.
